Cartoons, among others. His most recent book, A Biographical Guide to Pop and Jazz Singers (Pantheon), will be the topic of conversation this evening. His Sinatra bio was awarded the 1996 ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for Excellence in Music Criticism.
